DIY: Piggy Bank
So the other day I was thinking about my 21st birthday. I have a couple years left till that fateful day but I already know I want to spend it in Las Vegas. So being the curious girl that I am I decided to look at some prices for the hotels and things...yeah I was shocked I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the prices! I have been to Vegas before and I know that everything is outrageously overpriced anyways but they are crazy! I mean on food, wardrobe, hotel, gambling, drinks, cover charges and shows you are looking into a price range close to a thousand....So my solution is to start saving now with my homemade piggy bank.
Things I used:
shoe box
hot glue gun
ribbon
rhinestones
feathers
2 Cardstock papers (12x12)
double stick tape used for scrapbooking
So you can definitely get creative with this project. I went with the birthday Vegas theme but you can do any theme you want. I'm going to make two more for bills, and a car. My only suggestion is don't use regular glue!!!! It doesn't stick very well to the shoe box and it ends up just making a big mess! So go to your local craft store and check out the scrapbooking section. You will find all kinds of adhesives and tapes you can use. Also be careful with the hot glue gun! I used it for the ribbon, rhinestones, and feathers and they came out great but I did get burned. So use with care :) Enjoy and let me know what you guys think!
DIY folks is the way to go!
College: Shopping on a budget
So I am going back to school on the 27th of this month and that means back to school shopping and just all around rushing! I have so much to do before that Friday morning that I swear I 'm going to lose it! haha I have to get my schedule in order and the bills need to be paid. I have to get stuff for my dorm room, and I need to buy my books all by staying in my budget! Not to mention clothes, makeup and all that girl good stuff haha. So my question is how do I get all this stuff and stay on a budget!?
So needless to say I need a fairy godmother. Preferably one with a couple money trees. However my life is not a Disney movie and that means I have to find a way to do all this on my own. So as much as I would love to go to Bed Bath and Beyond and buy everything in sight, that is not the case for this chica. I know I am not the only one with this problem so I wanted share a few you links to some great websites where you can find some great stuff for an even better price!
Kmart
So Kmart has layaway. This is the number one thing that I believe should be shared about this store because if you are really money conscience then layaway is the best way to go. Layaway for those who don't know is when an agreement is made between a retailer and a consumer where the consumer pays a deposit to reserve an item and it is held at the store. A person can then make payments during a certain amount of time until they have paid the full price for their items. A great idea and a fantastic way to save.
Walmart
Has really great prices on all things beauty. I'm talking hair products, face products, cosmetics, and feminine products. By my school we have the choice of either going to Target or Walmart (they are across the street from each other lol). I chose Walmart because I believe I am getting more bang for my buck here. Twenty dollars goes a long way at this store. When I need snacks or other necessities I can find it here and maybe pick up a tank top or two.
Bed Bath and Beyond
Probably the priciest and the best quality out of the bunch. This is the place to go for bedding, storage, and decor. Recently B3 has come up with fantastic ideas for the conscious college shoppers. The number one thing I wanted to share is the Dorm set beddings that comes with 11-14 pieces so you are literally getting a dorm in a bag! You get 2 towels, 3 dry erase wall dots, pillow, hamper, fleece throw, sham, sheet set, and a reversible comforter...I am blown away. I picked up the set in "Fleur" and I love it! Pillow is good for decoration and the hamper is a tad bit flimsy but everything else=fantastic. I also bought a storage cube shelf, and some decals. Definitely go here for all your storage ad bedding needs!!!
Dollar Tree
Yes I know shocking right! So the DT store always seems to be put on the back burner when it comes to people shopping there but seriously you people don't know what your missing! This place is fantastic! Just thinking about it gets me all excited! haha This place it the place to find all of your knick knack stuff, basic necessities for around the house, and even school supplies. You will be surprised by the selection and the variety of things you will find here. They have some name brands and you can't go wrong in this store! .
Have fun shopping and let me know what you guys think!
*These are just my honest opinions and I don't work for any of these stores so hopefully I wont get in trouble or anything! haha

Oh Target how I love thee let me count the ways haha. So Target is a fantastic store where you can find everything and anything, unfortunately it can get pricey. You are definitely paying for better quality stuff here but you can easily find the some of the same things for way better prices at other stores. I love love Target and when looking for clothes, shoes, makeup, fresh produce (not all stores have this) and cute decor you can't go wrong here.
